Garry Bowler reimagines The In Crowd with Wayne Kramer, Alan Davey, and Enid Williams in a star-studded tribute to Lemmy and original artists

Garry ‘Magpie’ Bowler will release a reworking of the Billy Page track The In Crowd on 6 April 2026. The song is a lyrical thank you to original music artists and their supporters. As well as covering drum duties, Garry Bowler wrote the arrangement and lyrics, with bass duties by Alan Davey, Wayne Kramer on guitar and vocals by Enid Williams.

Garry Bowler not only supported Motörhead live, but was asked to join the band to replace drummer Phil Taylor in ’92 and recorded demo tracks for the March Or Die album. Bowler would also record with guitarist Würzel.

“As this year marks the 10-year anniversary of Lemmy’s death, I wanted to pay a tribute to the man who always supported and encouraged original music,” Garry says. “Lemmy himself took inspiration from the American band MC5 when putting together Motörhead. According to Lemmy, without MC5, there would be no Motörhead, no Damned, no Ramones.”

Unusually, the drum track for The In Crowd was recorded as a solo drum piece before any other recording was added. Garry wanted each contributor to add their own identity to the track as it progressed.

Garry Bowler has toured and recorded with bassist Alan Davey, like Lemmy, ex-Hawkwind. “Alan was the perfect player to represent the bass style of Lemmy.” Lemmy named Alan ‘Bass Assassin number two’.

With drums and bass recorded, Garry wanted to continue the Lemmy link, and, on the strength of the drum and bass recording, MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer agreed to contribute his guitar parts to the track. Unfortunately, Wayne sadly passed away only months after recording, but he had said “The track ROCKS.”

The final piece of the jigsaw was to find the right vocalist, who also had a link with Lemmy, to complete the project.

“Girlschool were a band that had strong connections with Motörhead,” Garry said, “so it seemed fitting to approach original Girlschool member Enid Williams, who agreed to contribute vocals to the track.”

With reworked lyrics as a dedication and support to all those involved with the original artists, this is a fitting song. “Without original artists, there would be no cover, tribute or sampled artists,” Garry Bowler says.

The In Crowd is released on 6 April 2026 and can be pre-ordered from here.
