After serving as Arch Enemy's vocalist for over a decade, at the end of last year, Alissa White–Gluz – better known as ALISSA – announced her departure from the Swedish metal group, and just yesterday, ALISSA celebrated on International Women's Day by revealing that she now has a new project she's working on alongside Dani Sophia.
In a post made to Instagram, ALISSA writes in the caption:
“The year of the snake is finally over – now it’s time to shed the skin.
Today, on International Women’s Day, I’m proud to announce my new band: BLUE MEDUSA.
After twenty years performing on the world’s biggest stages, I’m entering a new creative chapter. Blue Medusa is the next evolution of everything I’ve been building toward; a project where my full artistic vision can exist without limits.
You’ll hear blazing guitar solos, cru shing riffs, brutal vocals, fast and aggressive drums, thoughtful melodies, and deeply introspective lyrics layered with meaning.
Blue Medusa features an incredible lineup of musicians:
Alyssa Day – guitar
Dani Sophia – guitar
Joining us live on drums and bass will be two absolute powerhouses:
Delaney Jaster – drums
Alicia Vigil – bass
I chose to share this news on International Women’s Day because building stronger platforms for women in heavy music is something I care deeply about. I’ve been carving my own path in this genre for a long time, and I want to help pave the road for the next generation of women who love metal as much as I do.

The news was later followed up by a press release in which ALISSA commented, “Blue Medusa is the next evolution of everything I’ve been building toward for years. It’s my creative melting pot. Everything fans enjoy about the energy, intensity, and performance they’ve always experienced on stage with me over the past two decades is still here, even stronger. That is me, that is who I am and who I’ve always been.
"And now it’s amplified and unleashed in a fully sovereign artistic vision. Our music has blazing guitar solos, crushing riffs, brutal vocals, fast and aggressive drums, thoughtful melodies and most importantly (to me), really cognitive lyrics."
This comes after ALISSA teased the brand new project about three weeks ago, when she posted a 'Meet The Band' Reel to Instagram that featured the aforementioned Dani Sophia and Alyssa Day.
