UK Metallers TRÖJAN have signed with Fireflash Records and announced a refreshed band line-up, with plans to release a first EP by the end of the year. This is great news as, following recent tensions behind the scenes, Pete Wadeson emerged determine to “put together the finest Trojan line up to date.”
Originally formed in 1982 by guitarist Pete Wadeson, the NWOBHM outfit signed with Roadrunner Records in the mid-’80s and released debut album Chasing The Storm in 1985, a record still regarded by many as a classic thanks to its Speed/Power Metal edge, super-fast solos and melodic guitar work.
Following reissues and archival releases in recent years, including a 2024 5-CD box set The Complete Tröjan & Taliön Recordings ’84 – ’90 – TRÖJAN returned to the stage post-Covid with appearances at Keep It True (Germany) and Muskelrock (Sweden), before touring extensively across Europe through 2024.

“I’ve always been well aware of the label, and its accomplishments,” Pete Wadeson said, “and I’m honoured and extremely proud to have signed with Fireflash Records and can’t thank Markus enough for the faith he has shown towards us.
“Also, I have to mention my debt of gratitude to Holger Mahlstedt for his unwavering devotion and belief in the band’s abilities, and with Markus and the Fireflash organisation on board, I feel more confident than ever that we’ll finally deliver what our fans and Metalheads fully deserve and have long been waiting for.”
The new line-up features Pete Wadeson (guitar, backing vocals), Emmanuel Thorsen (vocals), Luke Entwistle (bass, backing vocals) and ex-Tailgunner drummer Sammy Starwood.
“I always loved the underdogs, and Heavy Metal history is full of it,” Fireflash Records’ Markus Wosgien said. “Both TRÖJAN and TALION delivered Speed Metal milestones and disappeared way too early. I am sure they had so much more to say and deliver.
“Seeing them live at Keep It True was a special moment. Afterwards, Holger made contact with the band, and here we go. The first demo recordings of new written material sound simply amazing and will soon be recorded properly.
“I was also more than happy to see Sammy joining the band on drums, with whom we worked on the first Tailgunner releases. He is the perfect match for TRÖJAN, and our goal is to release a first EP by the end of the year.”
