Heavy Metal guitar legend Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest has pledged a further £250,000 to Imperial College London through his charity, The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation, to help fund Parkinson’s Disease treatment research.

Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2015 and launched the foundation with funds raised from multiple avenues, including fans purchasing special merchandise during Judas Priest tours. The charity has already donated £230,000 to Imperial College London and will now be adding another £250,000 to support ongoing work.

The donation will help fund research into a pioneering approach called MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS), which aims to relieve physical symptoms of Parkinson’s, particularly tremor.

“This is a wonderful donation,” Professor Peter Bain said, “which we plan to use for doing a study of Magnetic Resonance Guided Focused Ultrasound brain surgery for the treatment of the tremor and other symptoms of Parkinson’s, with an end goal of making this treatment available for people with Parkinson’s on the NHS.”

The importance of this incredible treatment is echoed by Glenn. ” who adds… “”We will beat this awful disease,” he said. “United We Stand.”
