The 2026 GRAMMY Awards took place on February 1 in Los Angeles, CA, with the rock, metal, and alternative categories once again presented during the premiere ceremony at the Peacock Theater, ahead of the televised main event.

Canadian alternative metal breakout Spiritbox were among the performers during the afternoon ceremony, delivering a live rendition of "Soft Spine." The track earned the band their third GRAMMY nomination overall, landing them in the Best Metal Performance category. Despite the high-profile performance, Spiritbox ultimately left empty-handed.

That honor went to Turnstile, who claimed Best Metal Performance for their track "Birds." The Baltimore outfit continued their dominant showing by also winning Best Rock Album for NEVER ENOUGH, marking one of the biggest rock wins of the day.

YUNGBLUD secured his first GRAMMY Award, winning Best Rock Performance for his live cover of Black Sabbath's "Changes." The performance was recorded during Back To The Beginning, the final live sendoff for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, held last July at Villa Park.

The performance featured an all-star backing band including Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Adam Wakeman, and II of Sleep Token. Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's widow, joined the group onstage to accept the award.

Industrial icons Nine Inch Nails took home Best Rock Song for "As Alive As You Need Me To Be," lifted from the upcoming Tron: Ares soundtrack. The band were not in attendance to accept the award.
