Frontiers Label Group Launches BLKIIBLK Records, Appoints MIKE GITTER To Global Head Of A&R

18:42 Wednesday, 14 January 2026

Frontiers Label Group has announced the launch of BLKIIBLK Records, a new imprint dedicated to metal, hard rock, and extreme music — marking a decisive move into heavier territory as the company enters its 30th year.

The Naples, Italy–based label group has also appointed respected industry veteran Mike Gitter as head of the new label. In addition to leading BLKIIBLK, Gitter will assume the role of Global Head of A&R for Frontiers Label Group, bringing decades of genre-defining experience to the company's expanding roster.

BLKIIBLK arrives on the heels of major Frontiers releases, including Biohazard's 2025 return and Megadeth's self-titled final album, due January 23. According to Frontiers founder Serafino Perugino, the new imprint represents more than expansion — it's a statement of intent.

Gitter's résumé spans some of heavy music's most influential institutions. Across roles at Century Media, Roadrunner, Razor & Tie, and Atlantic, he has worked with artists including Killswitch Engage, Lorna Shore, Bad Religion, Starset, Orbit Culture, and Ice-T's Grammy-winning Body Count.

"I'm proud to announce my joining the Frontiers Label Group team and helming BLKIIBLK. Frontiers is a company of passion. The mission statement is simple: to establish BLKIIBLK as a force on the heavy and extreme music spectrum that spans the gamut from the mainstays and driving forces of the genre to the most modern of metal to the grimiest of the underground. The common denominator is pushing boundaries with records and bands that are nothing short of vital, no matter what stage in their career."

With Gitter's joining, BLKIIBLK proudly announces the signing of re-amped Bay Area thrashers, Forbidden, NYC hardcore institution Cro-Mags, Portland, Oregon's gothic metal heroes, Unto Others, and Cleveland, Ohio's denizens of the unholy underground, Nunslaughter.

"This is just the beginning", says Gitter. "Expect surprises at every turn, but the common denominator will remain pretty consistent. Expect everything to go for the throat."

Alongside the announcement, BLKIIBLK revealed its first wave of signings, a lineup that bridges legacy, resurgence, and underground extremity:

  • Forbidden – The reborn Bay Area thrash legends are working on new music with a refreshed lineup, marking their first major label partnership since reforming.
  • CroMags – The New York hardcore pioneers, led by Harley Flanagan, will carry their four-decade legacy into a new chapter following 2025's Wired for Chaos documentary.
  • Unto Others – Potland's gothic metal torchbearers continue work on their fourth album, following acclaimed releases Mana, Strength, and Never, Neverland.
  • Nunslaughter – Cleveland's long-running extreme metal institution is preparing a new album described as a ferocious continuation of their underground legacy.

"As Frontiers Label Group enters its thirtieth year, we do so with a renewed and bolder spirit", states Perugino about Frontiers' vital next chapter.

"BLKIIBLK is not just a label, it is a meaningful statement of intent. We aim to push boundaries, support artists with something meaningful to say, and shape a future for metal that is as powerful as its legacy. With Mike Gitter's experience, credibility, and passion, we are launching a true home for global metal. After thirty years in this business, my passion for building great artists and making great records has never been stronger. BLKIIBLK is the next chapter of that story."

BLKIIBLK will operate alongside Frontiers' existing imprints — Frontiers Music Srl (Rock) and FLG Records (Alternative) — with global distribution handled by The Orchard. New releases are already planned for 2026 from artists including The 69 Eyes, Firewind, Thrown Into Exile, and more.

As Frontiers enters its fourth decade, BLKIIBLK signals a sharpened focus on metal's past, present, and future — and with Mike Gitter at the helm, the label is positioning itself as a serious new power player in the global heavy music landscape.
