Fans of metalcore have plenty to be excited about as Howard Jones ramps up activity on multiple fronts. In a recent TotalRock "Louder" interview, Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz confirmed that the long-awaited debut album from Burn Eternal, his collaborative project with Jones, is officially complete.
"It's all ready to go. There's still no release date, but it's done. It's done," Dutkiewicz told host Ore Bihovsky. He added that the duo are still in talks with labels to finalize the release.
Burn Eternal is a two-person affair, with Dutkiewicz and Jones delivering a sound rooted in their shared Killswitch Engage DNA. "It sounds a bit like Killswitch, obviously, because I'm a songwriter for Killswitch. Yeah, it sounds like me and Howard," Dutkiewicz explained. The project had been in development for at least two years, with the final mix completed in December 2024.
Jones originally left Killswitch Engage in 2012, after nearly a decade as the band's frontman. While he has worked on smaller projects since, Burn Eternal represents his first high-profile collaboration with Dutkiewicz since departing the band.
But Burn Eternal isn't the only thing on Jones' plate. Jones recently confirmed he is working on a solo album, joined in the studio by Josh Gilbert (Spiritbox producer) and Joseph McQueen (As I Lay Dying, Bullet For My Valentine engineer). Posting a photo with the collaborators, Jones captioned:
"I'm back with the dream team of Josh and Joseph, my solo album recording has officially begun. We have talked about this for a couple years, thrilled to finally get started. Lots to share with several projects over the next few months, thank you to everyone who has kept up with this crazy ride. Here we go!"
With Burn Eternal completed and a solo project underway, Howard Jones currently has at least two major projects in progress, signaling a productive and exciting period for fans of his voice and songwriting. More details on release dates and additional projects are expected in the coming months.
