If you've ever wanted to live in the house that Slipknot trashed during their "Duality" video, you're in luck! The house – located at 1050 16th Street, West Des Moines, IA – is hitting the auction block after being foreclosed upon, according to The Des Moines Register. I'm guessing they've fixed it up since that video shoot, unless the owners were really proud of having their house utterly annihilated in the name of metal.
The house goes up for bid on October 14 and is worth an estimated $336,400. The house was foreclosed in January when the owners couldn't pay the remaining $141,404 on their mortgage. Oh, and in case you were wondering – the filming of the "Duality" music video did about $500,000 worth of damage to the house. Considering the video shot on March 27, 2004, that equates to roughly $864,397 in 2025 money. So yeah, it was an expensive shoot.
On the video, Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn Crahan recalled in a 2012 interview with Kerrang!: "We asked our real fans to be in the video, and people came from everywhere. It meant so much to us. We weren't really supposed to destroy that house — but we did it anyway. Another plus for that song is that I get to beat the fuck out of my keg. What else could you want?"
After filming wrapped, the homeowners presented the band with an extensive list of items and fixtures that had been damaged or destroyed during the shoot. Maybe if that Slipknot deal goes through by next week, the band might buy the house themselves?
