Filmmaker Morgan Tedd has announced his forthcoming documentary, Love is Forever, Blood is Forever, a raw and intimate portrait of Misery Signals' farewell tour. The film captures the band's emotional final run of shows, including performances at London's Electric Brixton and Edmonton's Starlite Room and Union Hall, as they closed the chapter on more than two decades of groundbreaking music.
For Tedd, the project carries both a personal and universal weight. "I've loved Misery Signals for as long as I can remember. Of Malice and the Magnum Heart was such a formative album for me and countless other musicians. To be asked to create two music videos for the band, as well as direct their Live in Isolation performance during the Covid years, was an honour.
"Those projects were made across oceans, but for this documentary, I wanted closeness. I wanted to capture the bond between the band, their fans, and the music itself; to celebrate the joy and intensity of their live performances through a reflective lens, as they toured for the final time before laying Misery Signals to rest. This film is my love letter to the band, and a shared celebration from one fan, to every fan."
Shot by Tedd with additional footage from Jim Madden and Tyler Hamende, and edited by Tedd himself, Love is Forever, Blood is Forever takes audiences inside the farewell moments of a band whose music has left an indelible mark on metalcore.
Formed in 2002, Misery Signals earned a reputation for their progressive riffing, complex time signatures, and deeply melodic breakdowns. Their debut album Of Malice and the Magnum Heart in 2004 quickly became a genre-defining release, inspiring a generation of musicians. Subsequent albums included Mirrors, Controller, Absent Light, and Ultraviolet, with both founding vocalist Jesse Zaraska and longtime frontman Karl Schubach contributing to the band's enduring legacy.
In 2024, the band embarked on the Blood Is Forever, Love Is Forever Farewell Tour, uniting Zaraska and Schubach onstage together for the first time. The run spanned North America and Europe before culminating in their final performance on October 19, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta — a powerful and poignant closing chapter in their 22-year journey.
