The word "resurrection" takes on a doom-soaked twist with the surprise unveiling of Society's Pact With Satan, a long-lost, 30-minute Cathedral recording thought to have vanished forever.

Originally tracked in 2012 at the end of sessions for the final Cathedral album The Last Spire released in 2013, the mammoth piece was never mixed and quickly slipped into obscurity. Forgotten by both band and crew, it sat gathering dust – until producer Jaime Gomez Arellano stumbled across the recording while sifting through his old archives.

Upon hearing it again, Cathedral agreed: the world needed to hear their true final sermon. The result is an unapologetic half-hour of crushing riff worship, eccentric twists, and macabre grandeur – a reminder that there really was no other band quite like Cathedral. Or, as Tony Iommi once put it, a group who carried the spirit of doom into stranger, darker corners than anyone else dared.

Society's Pact With Satan will see release across multiple formats, with vinyl collectors treated to a range of pressings:

  • 100 clear (mail-order only)
  • 200 purple (mail-order only)
  • 400 red
  • 400 black

All LPs will feature an insert, while the initial CD edition comes housed in a slipcase. The track itself runs just shy of 30 minutes on CD, while the vinyl splits the sermon in two parts across Side A and B. For a band that ended their career with The Last Spire, this truly is the last word: an uncompromising, arcane parting shot from Britain's lords of doom. Pre-orders are available here.
