Sevendust are closing in on their next chapter. The veteran hard rock outfit have nearly finished writing material for their forthcoming studio album, expected to arrive in early 2026 via Napalm Records. The sessions for the follow-up to 2023's Truth Killer once again unfolded at singer Lajon Witherspoon's farmhouse in Kansas.
Later this month, the group will head into pre-production with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, whose resume includes work with Alter Bridge and Slash. Tracking will take place at Studio Barbarosa in Gotha, FL, a setting Sevendust know well.
Guitarist Clint Lowery offered a glimpse behind the scenes with a recent Instagram post, sharing a photo of himself alongside Witherspoon, drummer Morgan Rose, and guitarist John Connolly. In the caption, Lowery reflected on his decision to join the band back in 1994, recalling the first time Rose played him early demos of "Black" and "Bitch" in a car outside Atlanta's Masquerade club. "I was hooked," he wrote.
Three decades on, Sevendust are now preparing their 14th album (15th, if you count Time Travelers & Bonfires), and Lowery said the band are in "a great headspace and great brotherhood." He also shouted out bassist Vinnie Hornsby, who was missing from the photo, and expressed gratitude to Witherspoon and his wife Ashley for hosting the writing sessions.
"Like Morgan has joked for 30 years… ‘We gotta lottttttta work to do,' and that is true. But I'm not worried. God will guide us, give us inspiration when it's needed, patience when it's required and trust in the team around us," Lowery added.
In the meantime, Sevendust will mark the 21st anniversary of their acclaimed acoustic release Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live with a special fall tour. Launching November 14 in Columbia, Missouri, the tour will feature acoustic renditions of fan favorites like "Black," "Beautiful," and the heartfelt tribute "Angel's Son," as well as deep cuts rarely played live.
Country rock artist Cory Marks will open each night, bringing his own blend of hard-edged twang to warm up the crowd. Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live remains a fan favorite in the band's catalog, praised for its vulnerability and authenticity. Tickets are available here.
