Primus will close out a milestone year with a special two-night New Year's Eve run at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA, on December 30 and 31.
These hometown shows will be the band's first NYE performances with drummer John Hoffman, whose addition has ignited a reinvigorated chapter in the trio's storied career. Each evening will feature unique sets, with December 30 billed as an "Evening With Primus," while December 31 will see the band joined by the theatrical Puddles Pity Party to help ring in the new year.
Tickets go on sale this week, beginning with VIP, Artist, and Promoter Presales on here. Fans can also purchase a limited number of Lucky Bastard VIP Packages, which include early entry, a pre-show Q&A session with the band, a signed screen-printed NYE poster, exclusive merchandise access, and more.
The New Year's Eve celebration caps off what has been one of the most dynamic years in Primus history, highlighted by Hoffman's arrival after emerging victorious from the band's widely publicized Interstellar Drum Derby, which drew over 6,200 applicants.
Since then, the Shreveport-born drummer has toured extensively with Primus, appeared on the single "Little Lord Fentanyl" alongside Maynard James Keenan, played on a live reimagining of "Duchess (And the Proverbial Mind Spread)," and completed his first headline run with the group. His presence has been widely praised in the press, with Stereogum, Modern Drummer, and SPIN all recognizing the fresh vitality he has brought to the band.
From a celebrated Brown Album tribute at Red Rocks to their Onward & Upward tour, Primus have spent 2024 diving deep into their catalog and exploring new creative frontiers. The Oakland NYE shows serve as the culmination of Hoffman's whirlwind first year behind the kit and a powerful exclamation point on the band's ongoing evolution. With their hometown crowd behind them, Primus are poised to send 2024 out in true Primus fashion — unpredictable, celebratory, and entirely their own.
