Technical death metal powerhouse Narcotic Wasteland, led by former Nile guitarist and vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade, will hit the road this September for the Annihilation of the Wasteland tour — a celebration of both past glories and present ferocity.
The tour marks the 20th anniversary of Nile's 2005 masterpiece Annihilation of the Wicked, an album widely regarded as one of the high water marks in technical death metal and a cornerstone of Toler-Wade's nearly two-decade run with the band.
Toler-Wade first made his name as a central figure in Nile, contributing to a string of era-defining albums including Black Seeds of Vengeance, In Their Darkened Shrines, and Annihilation of the Wicked. His writing and playing became integral to Nile's distinctive fusion of Egyptian mythology and devastatingly technical death metal.
In 2014, he launched Narcotic Wasteland, which quickly established itself as more than just a side project. Their self-titled debut and 2017's Delirium Tremens (both on Megaforce Records) showcased a raw yet precise style, lyrically grounded in themes of addiction, human decay, and societal collapse. After Toler-Wade's departure from Nile in 2016, Narcotic Wasteland became his full-time focus, steadily building a reputation as a relentless modern force in death metal.
The Annihilation of the Wasteland tour promises a setlist that bridges Toler-Wade's Nile legacy with the crushing arsenal of Narcotic Wasteland.
