Fresh off a rapturous reception at this year's Tribeca Festival, Depeche Mode have confirmed that their new feature film DEPECHE MODE: M will hit cinemas and IMAX screens worldwide from October 28 for a limited run. The band, teaming up with Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision, are planning a global takeover – more than 2,500 cinemas in over 60 countries – giving fans everywhere the chance to step inside their Mexican odyssey.

The Fernando Frias – directed film blends three sold-out Foro Sol Stadium shows from the 2023 and 2024 Memento Mori Tour with an intimate dive into Mexican culture's centuries-old relationship with death. It's part concert, part love letter to the fans, part meditation on mortality – all wrapped in the synth-heavy grandeur of Depeche Mode's live presence.

"At its core, our new film M is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people — and Fernando Frías… did a beautiful job telling that story through the lens of Mexican culture and our shows in Mexico City," says frontman Dave Gahan.

Frias, best known for I'm No Longer Here — which scooped ten Ariel Awards and was Mexico's Oscars submission in 2021 — uses Memento Mori's themes as a mirror for Mexico's own traditions of honoring the dead. Expect sweeping crowd shots, goosebump-inducing singalongs, and a visual style that sits somewhere between a stadium gig and a spiritual procession.

"We’re proud to continue our longstanding collaboration with Sony Music Vision and IMAX to bring DEPECHE MODE: M to audiences worldwide in October," said Marc Allenby, CEO, Trafalgar Releasing. "This cinematic experience is a perfect celebration of the Memento Mori Tour and the deep connection Depeche Mode has with their global fanbase."

The Memento Mori Tour itself was a monster — 112 shows, over 3 million fans, and praise from Rolling Stone, who called it "a stunning celebration of life and music." The film now looks set to cement that run in big-screen history. Tickets for DEPECHE MODE: M go on sale September 17 via DepecheModeM.com, where fans can sign up for alerts.
