Iconic West Coast thrash band Dark Angel is set to make their long-awaited return to stages across North America with The Extinction Level Event Tour, their first domestic run since the early 1990s. The trek celebrates their highly anticipated comeback album Extinction Level Event, due later this year via Reversed Records – marking their first full-length release since 1991's Time Does Not Heal.
Formed in 1981, the same year as fellow thrash progenitors Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, Dark Angel carved out their legacy through landmark releases like Darkness Descends and Leave Scars, earning a fierce cult following and influencing generations of extreme metal.
"Musically, lyrically, and vocally, I'm so stoked about this album," said Dark Angel drummer Gene Hoglan, known for his legendary work with Death, Testament, Strapping Young Lad, and Dethklok. "I'm really excited about Dark Angel right now. And everyone who's heard the new album is losing their minds."
Support for the tour will vary by date, with a heavy-hitting mix of bands including Sacred Reich, Hirax, Vio-Lence, Midnight, Void, and Interceptor bringing a diverse dose of thrash, speed, and blackened fury to each show. Get your tickets here.
Extinction Level Event was produced and engineered by Rob Shallcross and mixed by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica, Rush) at The Armoury Studios in Vancouver, BC, promising a modern-yet-authentic assault worthy of the band's storied legacy.
