Firespawn has officially announced their long-awaited return, marking a powerful new chapter in the wake of former vocalist L-G Petrov’s passing in 2021. The band has enlisted legendary Swedish death metal veteran Jörgen Sandström (ex-Grave, Torture Division, Entombed) as their new frontman, calling the reunion a living tribute to Petrov’s legacy following his battle with bile duct cancer.
"We're back!" said founding Firespawn guitarist Victor Brandt (ex-Entombed, ex-Aeon). "This band has always been about a deep connection between us as musicians, with the music itself and with the scene that has supported us from day one.
"We're doing this with love and respect for LG, and his spirit is still very much present in everything we do. Having Jörgen joining us feels like the natural next step, he's family. He brings both the fire and the spirit we need. We have missed this band and we have missed all of you. We can't wait to share this next chapter together. Death metal is in our blood! Let's do this!"
Jörgen stated: "I believe that LG would have wanted Firespawn to keep on going. He loved the band and he loved death metal. I am in no way here as a replacement for our late friend but simply here to honor the legacy of our brother – have fun, play death metal, drink beer and headbang!”

Firespawn is a Swedish death metal supergroup formed in 2015 in Stockholm. Originally conceived as a more aggressive and darker outlet compared to its members' other projects, Firespawn quickly earned a reputation for their brutal, old-school-meets-modern death metal assault.
The band was founded by five veterans of the extreme metal scene: Petrov, Brandt, guitarist Fredrik Folkare (Unleashed, Necrophobic), bassist Alex Impaler (Necrophobic), and drummer Matte Modin (Raised Fist, ex-Dark Funeral, ex-Defleshed). Firespawn released three albums with that lineup – Shadow Realms in 2015, The Reprobate in 2017, and Abominate in 2019 – before Petrov's death in 2021 put an end to the band.
