After nearly three decades of redefining heavy music, Deftones return with a bold new chapter: Private Music, a tightly crafted 11-track album that reaffirms the band's place as one of the most adventurous and emotionally resonant forces in modern rock. Set against a backdrop of existential reflection and natural beauty, private music is being hailed as one of the most focused and refined statements in the band's storied career.
With their upcoming album Private Music on the horizon, Deftones have unveiled a towering new single, "My Mind Is A Mountain" — and it’s bound to hit home for longtime fans of the band’s heavier, mood-drenched side.
Massive, brooding, and steeped in atmosphere, the track plays like a spiritual cousin to the band’s White Pony and self-titled-era slow burns, blending sludge-weight riffs with dreamlike textures and Chino Moreno's haunting vocal performance. This is Deftones at their most tectonic — heavy, slow, and deeply immersive.
Joining Deftones' core lineup – Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, and Frank Delgado – is touring bassist Fred Sablan, who appears on the album. The record also reunites the band with producer Nick Raskulinecz, whose work on 2010's Diamond Eyes and 2012's Koi No Yokan helped define one of the group's most critically acclaimed creative eras. Private Music is:
- "My Mind Is a Mountain"
- "Locked Club"
- "Ecdysis"
- "Infinite Source"
- "Souvenir"
- "CXZ"
- "I Think About You All the Time"
