ATREYU Announces Completely Re-Recorded Version Of Their 2004 Album The Curse

Twenty-one years after the release of The Curse, Atreyu is resurrecting their seminal 2004 album in a full re-record. Produced by Kellen McGregor (of Memphis May Fire), this 2025 version is (according to the band) not just a nostalgic tribute, but a full-bodied, sharpened evolution of a genre-defining work. As the band puts it: "Rebuilt with reverence – not to rewrite, but to reclaim."

The updated album was announced in the wake of The Curse's 20th-anniversary vinyl reissue, which dropped in September 2024. That re-release featured remastered tracks and bonus material like a cover of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name", reigniting interest in Atreyu's early catalog and setting the stage for something more ambitious.

Of course it's worth noting that the 2025 version of The Curse features vocalists Brandon Saller and Marc "Porter" McKnight, as opposed to original vocalist Alex Varkatzas who left the band in 2020. Get it here on vinyl. I'm assuming this is also gonna hit streaming services eventually.

Atreyu seems to be on a re-recording binge lately as well considering they dropped The Pronoia Sessions – a collection of eight reimagined greatest hits and two nostalgic tribute covers – last fall on Spinefarm.

Atreyu also has a load of tour dates around The Curse coming up later this year. The tour features Unearth playing The Oncoming Storm in full, Norma Jean playing O God, the Aftermath in full, Eighteen Visions playing cuts from Obsession and Until The Ink Runs Out, He Is Legend playing I Am Hollywood in full, and Zero 9:36. Check out Atreyu's full list of tour dates around The Curse below and get your tickets here.
