Finnish melodic death metal legends Children of Bodom will share their full story for the first time ever in an official band biography, set to be released in August 2025 via Rocket 88 Books. The highly anticipated title will offer fans an unfiltered look into the 30+ year journey of one of metal's most influential bands.

The Children of Bodom biography will be presented as an oral history, featuring contributions from current and former band members. Keyboardist Janne Wirman, bassist Henkka Seppälä, drummer Jaska Raatikainen, and early guitarist Alexander Kuoppala — along with other key figures in the band's orbit — will recount the band's evolution from underground heroes to international icons.

The biography is authored by Timo Isoaho, a best-selling Finnish writer and longtime friend of the band, and features exclusive new interviews and never-before-told stories.

In a recent interview with Ed Hackimer of This Day In Metal, Wirman offered a raw preview of the emotional depth of the upcoming book: "We spent, I don't know how many times — like 10, 15 times we got together and we had drinks and we told these stories to [Timo's] recorder. And there was laughter, there was tears, there was everything. 'Cause it tells the whole fucking brutal honest story of the band and how much fun was it when it started and how shit was it when it went to shit."

At the heart of the book is the band's late frontman, Alexi Laiho, the guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter who passed away in December 2020. The biography serves not only as a history of the band but as a tribute to Laiho's legacy. As Janne, Henkka, and Jaska share memories of their earliest days with Alexi, the book dives deep into the formation, rise, and eventual dissolution of Children of Bodom.

The band's collective statement upon the book's announcement reflects this tribute: "Since we stopped making music and suffered the tragic loss of our brother Alexi, we've been remembering so many great times that we had together, and you can now read about those times…"
