On July 4, ZZ Top is set to bring their own brand of aural fireworks with From The Top (1979–1990), a limited-edition vinyl collection from Rhino High Fidelity.
This release continues where last year's sold-out first volume left off, chronicling the Texas trio's rise to international stardom. Spanning the height of their mainstream success, the set includes five pivotal albums:
- Degüello (1979)
- El Loco (1981)
- Eliminator (1983)
- Afterburner (1985)
- Recycler (1990)
Each album in the collection was AAA cut from the original stereo master tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal. The records come housed in a faux-leather slipcase, and the edition is limited to just 3,000 individually numbered copies. Available for pre-order starting today, the collection can be found exclusively at Rhino.com and select Warner Music Group stores around the world. Get it here.
Formed in Houston, TX ZZ Top — consisting of Billy Gibbons on vocals and guitar, Dusty Hill on bass, and Frank Beard on drums — carved out a unique sound by fusing electric blues, boogie rock, and sly humor. Their relentless touring and increasingly confident albums earned them a devoted following. From The Top (1979–1990) captures the moment when the band evolved beyond their blues roots, embraced new technology, and cemented their legacy with a string of iconic releases.
