THE SMASHING PUMPKINS Announces Massive Machina Box Set Reissue

The Smashing Pumpkins has officially the long-anticipated reissue of their 2000 concept album Machina/The Machines of God and its companion release, Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music.

The fully reimagined and remastered collection will be released on August 22 via UMe and through The Smashing Pumpkins' frontman Billy Corgan's Madame Zuzu's Tea Shop (gotta get those customers somehow). This comprehensive reissue represents the first time both albums will be presented as a unified body of work, as originally intended by the band.

An exclusive 80-song vinyl box set will be available only through Madame Zuzu's in Highland Park, IL. This expansive collection includes a newly sequenced 48-track version of Machina, along with 32 bonus tracks made up of demos, live takes, and outtakes. It marks the definitive presentation of the Machina project. The full set will not be released in its entirety through any other format, and preorders for the box set are now open.

Also arriving on August 22 is a 16-track reissue of the original Machina/The Machines of God on vinyl, with preorders starting today. UMe will offer the album in several formats, including a standard 180g black vinyl 2LP, a limited-edition red/black swirl version, CD, and digital.

Said Corgan of the release: "It's taken some 25 years to finally release Machina as we in the band had hoped it would be… This set stands as a celebration and testament of will, for the songs alone have helped James, Jimmy, and I keep the faith."
