Dismember's classic lineup reunited way back in 2019 and have been out there playing shows ever since. The topic of Dismember's first new record since their self-titled 2008 effort has come up quite a few times, and yeah – they're still planning on doing it.

According to drummer Fred Estby in an interview with Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Dismember was originally supposed to work on a new record this year but a bunch of shows got in the way.

"It's a little bit problematic. I live in the U.S. Richard [Cabeza, bass] lives in Belgium. The other three live in Sweden. So it's very hard to… And I'm, like, 'Okay, let's not do anymore shows for next year.' And then we're, like, 'Yeah, okay. Let's start working on the album for real,' like planning on what studio we're gonna record it in and all that. And then suddenly it's like, oh, we've got 10 to 15 more shows next year. So we're kind of, like, oh, we can't just say no to shows either. So it's kind of, like, 'All right. We have to do the shows.' Now we have to prioritize to play the shows. But it will come."

On what he wants the next Dismember record to sound like, Estby said he wants it to sound as old-school as possible.

"Yeah. I do not want it to sound modern. We all agree on that. So, actually, what I would like to do, if possible, is to record it the way we did back in '91 — reel-to-reel tape and old microphones and all that. So that's what we're gonna try to do, I think."

"I think it's gonna be good. We just need the time to plan it out, 'cause we don't wanna release something that is not a hundred percent either."
