Birmingham is pulling out all of the stops for Black Sabbath fans this coming July, and that goes beyond just the impending show.
Back To The Beginning is due to take place on the 5th of July, featuring performances from legendary acts like Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Guns N' Roses, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Rival Sons, Slayer, Sleep Token, Soundgarden, and Tool, as well as a supergroup of metal musicians such as Andrew Watt, Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, David Ellefson, David Draiman, Fred Durst, Lzzy Hale, Jake E. Lee, Jonathan Davis, K. K. Downing, Mike Bordin, Papa V Perpetua, Rudy Sarzo, Sammy Hagar, Steven Tyler, Vernon Reid, Whitfield Crane, Wolfgang Van Halen. This entire metal-extravaganza, if you will, is being directed by Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello.
Now, Black Sabbath fans are being treated to a whole experience throughout the city of Birmingham. Featuring street artwork in the middle of the city as well as several free exhibitions showcasing the legendary band, the English city is cashing in on the opportunity of a lifetime. Not only can you find a 130-foot mural dedicated to Black Sabbath outside New Street Station on Navigation Street that contains the band's portraits and logos throughout the last sixty years, but actual exhibits are now dedicated to the band.
The two exhibitions will be opening ahead of the Back To The Beginning show in Villa Park – one dedicated to Ozzy Osbourne's accolades, achievements, and life's work, and a second dedicated to Black Sabbath photography.
The Birmingham Museum Art & Gallery is featuring the exhibition on Ozzy Osbourne's accolades from June 25th to September 28th, which is reported to showcase his numerous Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame achievements and Grammy Awards, alongside many others. The title of the exhibit is "Working Class Hero" due to Osbourne's background and his development into one of the world's most recognised musicians from being "a working class kid."
Victoria Square will be holding the second exhibit, centered around Black Sabbath photography with archived images of the original members, which will run from June 25th into the fall.
