Bruce Dickinson is set to release a completely reimagined version of his seminal 1994 solo album, Balls To Picasso. Reborn as More Balls To Picasso, the album arrives on 25 July 2025. This is a bold reinvention, combining new recordings, remixes, and sonic enhancements that breathe fresh life into this cornerstone of Dickinson’s solo catalogue.

Originally recorded during a period when Dickinson had stepped away from Iron Maiden, Balls To Picasso marked the vocalist’s assertion as a serious solo force.

It was his first collaboration with guitarist and producer Roy Z and featured Tribe Of Gypsies as the backing band. The album housed memorable singles like Tears of the Dragon and Shoot All the Clowns and gained acclaim for its emotional depth and artistic exploration.

However, the new version, More Balls To Picasso, finally realises the full scope of Dickinson’s creative vision. “While mixing all my catalogue into Dolby Atmos, I had a nagging desire to revisit and reinvent the record,” Dickinson explained.

“Putting more balls into Balls was a labour of love.”

This reinvention features new guitar work by Philip Naslund, orchestral arrangements by Brazilian composer Antonio Teoli—including indigenous Amazonian instruments on Gods of War—and a horn section courtesy of Berklee College of Music.

“Of course, we beefed up the guitars,” Dickinson said, “courtesy of our Swedish shredder Philip Naslund, and we added some really beautiful work by Adassi Addasi on Tears as well.

“Fellow Brazilian composer Antonio Teoli added some stunning orchestral arrangements, and in a unique contribution, added indigenous instruments from the Amazon [recorded by himself when he lived there] at the beginning of Gods Of War.

“Shoot All The Clowns gets the benefit of a horn section fronted by the Berklee College of Music, and all of the record gets the benefit of the mix by Brendan Duffey, [who worked on The Mandrake Project], with notes along the way from Shay Baby, the original father of the album.”

The Mandrake Project Live 2025 tour kicks off August 22nd in Anaheim, California, and will include festival stops at Rocklahoma, Louder Than Life, and Brazil’s massive The Town Festival.
