DAVID VINCENT Explains Why TERRORIZER Got Back Together

"We have some things in the works," revitalized Terrorizer bassist David Vincent teased when chatting to Mexico's Loud! Metal Radio. Terrorizer is now vocalist Brian Werner (Vital Remains), drummer Pete "Commando" Sandoval (Morbid Angel, I Am Morbid), guitarist Richie Brown (The Absence, Exmortus, I Am Morbid), and bassist David Vincent (ex-Morbid Angel).

Terrorizer was founded in 1985, before shortly disbanding in 1990, reforming in 2005 for two short years before yet another break. Then, in 2009, Terrorizer rebanded yet again until 2023, in which the group only took a short hiatus before officially joining forces for a final time. The lineup has changed frequently throughout the years, with Sandavol and Vincent the longest remaining members.

When doing their first record, World Downfall in 1989, Vincent explained that they "never toured as Terrorizer for that record, because, obviously, Pete [Sandoval] was in Morbid Angel and Jesse Pintado joined Napalm Death. So that kind of put a stop to Terrorizer because we were all busy doing other stuff."

The band's most recent unification was due to a simple question about Terrorizer performing at a festival: "There was an ask, could we do a Terrorizer set for a particular festival? And we said, 'Yeah, we can do that.' So we started rehearsing and putting it together.

"That festival got cancelled – this is several years ago – but it was advertised, so people said, 'What? Terrorizer?' So that's' when the agent started getting some calls about it. And he said, 'Hey, we're getting calls from European festivals now and we're getting calls from Latin America. Is this something that [you want to take to other territories]?'

And now, playing Terrorizer music feels "nostalgic… people tell me that Terrorizer was such a big influence on them as they were growing up with their bands or what have you. And it's also a lot of fun."

Vincent reflects, "Music is what we do. It's our life. We make music, but it's so enjoyable when the fans are just so responsive. It makes everything worthwhile. It's kind of like a drug all unto itself."
