The Nashville-based Alt-Metal artist Royale Lynn will release her debut album, Black Magic, on 27 June via Epitaph Records. Royale removes her Metal armour to take the listener on a vulnerable exploration of her struggles with mental health, set in a dark fantasy narrative where every song represents one of the evils that Pandora’s Box released onto humanity.
Lynn said: “I want to tell my stories in hopes that it might help others. At the end of the day, I don’t think mental health is talked about enough…and if my songs help someone in the way that my favourite band’s music helped me throughout the years, that is all that matters to me.”
The small-town Metalhead has been experimenting with a nostalgic Alt-Metal and hard rock sound that has already taken her to #27 on the rock radio charts with her explosive single Death Wish, featuring Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria. Black Magic was produced by Jonathan Roach, a mixing engineer recognised for his work with other genre-bending artists such as Lakeview and Elijah.

In just a couple of years, Lynn’s sound has undergone a masterful transformation, with singles like Battleground proving that while she continues to infuse her music with a country twang, her sonic identity has entered the Metal sphere in a way that resonates with the next generation of music fans.
Lynn added: “I think that music saves lives. Growing up, I struggled with managing my mental health, and I know some of my best friends struggled, too. I think this music gives us a safe space where we can be honest with ourselves. I wanted to show the community that they aren’t alone.”
Royale Lynn has toured North America with the likes of Skillet and Seether and performed on stage with Disturbed. Her latest releases have taken cues from 2000s hard rock icons Evanescence and Flyleaf, with piercing vocals that soar over urgent instrumentation and grounded, aggressive breakdowns.
The dazzling official music video for Black Magic’s opener, Greed, directed by Scott Hansen (A Day To Remember, Sevendust), was released last week. Royale Lynn is sensational as the latex-clad vocal huntress, resembling a vampire warrior as she takes on the army of masked figures and emits sparks of life in an otherwise inhospitable futuristic landscape.
