Listen, we know Ozzy Osbourne has a good few stories to his name – hell, we could name at least five off the bat. But, sometimes, small moments like the one he shared with Zakk Wylde, are pretty good, too.
In an interview with Metal Hammer, Zakk Wylde was asked by a fan what his "favorite wholesome moment" with Ozzy Osbourne was. And while funny to some, it can be seen as wholesome to many, "We were like a couple of naughty schoolkids! It was hilarious!"
Wylde sets the scene, "I'd always have a bag of beer with me, just in case anywhere we were going didn't have beer." And when playing at the Budokan Arena in Tokyo, Japan, it came in pretty clutch.
"So, Oz comes in the room after the gig. He goes, 'Zakky, Zakky… you got any beers?'"
Wylde was floored and immediately told Osbourne, "'Yeah, but I'm not giving you one right here. You're going to get us fired! Mom's right across the hall – she's going to come and see the two of us drinking, is that going to be good?'"
Sharon Osbourne, affectionately referred to as 'Mom' in this situation, is known for running a tight ship.
Ozzy Osbourne launches into a plan, "'Alright, I'll tell you what, I'll meet you in the bathroom.'"
So, Wylde goes into the bathroom, waits for Osbourne, hears the door open and Ozzy enter the stall next to him, "He comes into the stall next to me, and I push a Kirin or Asahi under there. I hear the 'psssst' of the can, then 'glug, glug, glug!'. He downs it in one, puts the can down, pushes it back under and goes, "Thank, Zakk. I'll see you at dinner."
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
