Steve Göldby, who founded MetalTalk in 2008, has issued a heartfelt message regarding his health, saying, “This is a pretty tough message for me to write, and there is absolutely no easy way to say this.”
“We received a big medical update these last few days, and unfortunately, my cancer treatments appear not to be working as quickly as hoped for. The cancer has now entered my bones and the tumor is now scheduled to hit my spinal chord in the next ‘few short weeks.’
“When that takes place, I will immediately become a raspberry ripple, unable to hurl Sambuca glasses further than around two foot. I used to hold the World Record.
“I can’t say for sure how long I have left. I would like to see my 60th birthday in fifteen months, along with the 2026 World Cup in June/July. I’ll probably only need until the semi-final, however (This Is England).
“What I can say for sure is that I will die on my own terms and with my boots on. More on that to follow.
“Iron Maiden at West Ham in June is currently my big aim for 2025. Maiden were the first band I ever saw. They could close the circle out very nicely.
“I really don’t have time to die right now, but such is life. And death.
“Perhaps that small spark of hope could reignite a comeback… Yes, there will be some degree of hope until the very final moment, but realistically, the best I can do with the time I have left is to live it as well as I can and most certainly die well, in honour of those I have known and loved.
“I am now going to author my very final works and prepare to seek my higher self. That shall be my guide.”
“Life is so short
Oh, Son of the North
You’ll find your peace
At the end of the rainbow”
