The Darkness is releasing a new music video for their song, ‘I Hate Myself,’ but there’s a twist — Justin Hawkins appears as a woman in the video.
The lead singer posted a couple of pictures on his Instagram along with a video about the upcoming release. He shared more details in one of his posts: “The music video for ‘I Hate Myself’ will be live-streamed over on my YouTube channel, Justin Hawkins Rides Again, on Monday the 6th of January at 8:30PM GMT. Watch it with me, comment, ask me questions – I’ll be doing it all live with my guest – my brother Dan Hawkins.”
While many fans shared their excitement and love, some were surprised and even frightened by Hawkins as a woman. One fan commented, “I’m scared,” while another wrote, “This is scaring me.”
However, some fans were impressed by how good he looked, with one saying, “You could have played Maleficent instead of Angelina Jolie!”
The band released the single just three weeks ago. It’s the second track from their upcoming eighth studio album ‘Dreams On Toast.’ It will be out on March 28 via Cooking Vinyl.
The Darkness will also tour the UK in March as part of their ‘Dreams On Toast’ world tour. They will be joined by Northern Irish indie-rock band Ash, who first supported The Darkness on the ‘Permission To Land Tour’ over 20 years ago.
