Slash paid tribute to his stepdaughter Lucy-Bleu Knight on what would have been her 26th birthday. Knight passed away in July at the age of 25.
“Today is your Birthday, Lucy-Bleu! You would have turned 26. [Forever 25],” the guitarist wrote in an Instagram post featuring childhood photos of Knight.
“Missing you is the hardest thing I’ll ever do,” he added. “We are going as a family to celebrate your life in full Lucy style! I hope you know how proud I am of all you have done in this world before you left it. You have left such a beautiful mark here, and it has not gone unnoticed. Happy Birthday my beautiful girl.”
In another post, Slash said, “Happy Birthday, dearest Lucy. We celebrate today what would have been your 26th year in our hearts. We miss you so much it’s indescribable. Love you forever.”
Knight’s family announced her death on July 22, three days after she passed away. Initially, they did not share details about the cause of her death. Later, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed it as hydrogen sulfide toxicity, ruling her death a suicide.
After her passing, Slash canceled several dates of his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. tour, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances.’ The tour resumed on July 28. Shortly after, he shared his grief on social media.
“My heart is permanently fractured,” his post read. “I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are. The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally.”
Lucy-Bleu Knight was a manager at Electric Lady Management and a tattoo artist who frequently shared her artwork on social media.
