Spleen Release Fiery Cover Of XTC’s Making Plans For Nigel

Italian rock band Spleen, known for their dark and aggressive sound, have just released a powerful new single, a cover of XTC’s classic track Making Plans For Nigel via Contempo Records. These songs signal an exciting chapter for the band as they build anticipation for their debut album, expected in early 2025.

Formed in Florence in 2019 and initially known by their provocative moniker Big Breast On Fat Boys, Spleen have steadily evolved their lineup and musical identity.

With frontman Samuele Riccucci leading on guitar and vocals, Matteo Innocenti on drums, Olmo Fantini on guitar, and Alberto Sanna on bass, their journey has been marked by high-energy performances and a commitment to shaking up the rock scene.

The new name, Spleen, adopted in 2023, reflects a darker and more refined sonic direction.

This new single is a bold reinterpretation of Making Plans For Nigel, capturing the band’s defiant spirit and resonating with their ethos of rebelling against societal constraints.

“The idea behind the video is the same as the one behind the XTC song,” Frontman Riccucci told us, “trying to escape from the impositions that life puts in front of you.”

With upcoming gigs including London’s legendary Hope and Anchor, Spleen are proving they’re a force to be reckoned with. This release not only celebrates their musical roots but also hints at the innovative path ahead.
