Fred Durst, the frontman of Limp Bizkit, is stepping in to help solve Primus’ drummer dilemma.

Durst shared on Instagram that he had already identified a potential candidate to audition for the position. He posted a screenshot with a message saying, “Greetings William, Thank you for submitting to the Galaxy Wide Primus Drummer Search. Due to the incredible volume of applicants, we will unfortunately not be able to give each submission a chance to audition. If you do not get the “call back”, please know that we here in Primus land are very grateful for your effort and support. If you do get a response, it will be within the next 2-3 weeks; it all depends on how quickly our team of drum scrutinizers can get through the plethora of submissions.”

Along with the screenshot, Durst wrote, “I have your new drummer ready to audition. Seriously. Sincerely.”

Tim ‘Herb’ Alexander left Primus in late October, saying that he had lost his passion for playing with the band. He explained, “A lot of times, you do something you love for a long time, and sometimes the passion turns into a job, and sometimes that job doesn’t feel like it’s your being anymore. Over time, I started realizing that it was affecting my physical life, it was affecting my mental life, and it was affecting my family life, and my heart just wasn’t in it.”

Alexander was part of Primus from 1989 to 1996, rejoined in 2003, left again in 2010, and returned in 2013.

Even after Alexander’s departure, Primus will still go ahead with their planned performances. Their New Year’s concert will feature members of Frog Brigade and Holy Mackerel filling in as needed. For their performances at Tool’s ‘Live in the Sand’ festival, Danny Carey from Tool will play drums.

Carey is also expected to join Primus on the ‘Sessanta V2.0’ tour with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, starting in late April.
