Courtney LaPlante shared her excitement about Spiritbox’s nomination for Best Metal Performance at the 67th annual Grammy Awards, where they’ll compete against Metallica and Gojira.
“I didn’t think this would happen again but it did…..very thankful very excited,” the singer wrote on X while reposting Spiritbox’s announcement of their Grammy nomination.
“Here we go again! Once again completely unexpected, had to be woken up by our manager that the nominations were happening, and we get to be amongst four other incredible bands! It’s a shock to be nominated two years in a row off of the same body of work I am so proud of. Thanks,” LaPlante also shared on Instagram.
The Best Metal Performance nominees for the 67th Grammy Awards include Metallica, Judas Priest, Gojira, Knocked Loose, and Spiritbox. The ceremony will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, and will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
Spiritbox was nominated for ‘Cellar Door,’ while Gojira is nominated for ‘Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça Ira!),’ Judas Priest for ‘Crown Of Horns,’ Metallica for ‘Screaming Suicide,’ and Knocked Loose (feat. Poppy) for ‘Suffocate.’
Final Grammy voting will take place from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025. Grammy winners are selected by voting members of the Recording Academy, including artists, producers, songwriters, and engineers.
This year, the Grammy process saw updates with new eligibility rules and renamed categories. A new award, the ‘Harry Belafonte Best Song For Social Change,’ honors the late icon’s impact on social justice.
The Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, featuring 94 award categories. In Best Rock Performance, nominees include The Beatles, The Black Keys, Green Day, IDLES, Pearl Jam, and St. Vincent.
