KISS Performs First Ever Australia Concert 44 Years Ago Today; Video

Legendary rockers KISS performed their first ever show in Australia 44 years ago today – November 8, 1980 – in Perth at the Entertainment Centre. The show opened the 11 dates for the Australian / New Zealand Unmasked Tour.

The lineup featured Paul Stanley – vocals, guitars, Gene Simmons – bass, vocals, Ace Frehley – lead guitar, vocals, and Eric Carr – drums. 

Unmasked was a hit in Australia – peaking at #3 on the Australian charts and reaching platinum status (50,000 units). The album was bolstered by single “Shandi”, which peaked at #5 in Australia. The Ace Frehley-led single “Talk To Me” also reached the top 40.
