Chester Bennington’s son, Jaime Bennington, recently used Instagram stories to question the authenticity of his father’s and Linkin Park’s social media accounts. Jaime started by sharing theories about social media posts made shortly before his father’s passing, suggesting that some posts didn’t seem genuine.
“I wonder who has access to the LINKIN PARK official social media and the social media of each individual bandmate. Did someone have access to Chester’s social media?” Jaime asked in one story.
He also shared a screenshot of a tweet from Mike Shinoda, posted two years after Chester’s passing. The tweet, first shared from Linkin Park’s official account, said, “I doubt I’ve ever laughed as much doing a podcast. Thanks for having me on to talk about porn, first impressions, exposed boob etiquette, and #Dadnoda.” Shinoda later clarified that he meant to post it from his personal account. Following this, Shinoda posted another message stating, “I don’t tweet from the LP account.” Jaime questioned if one of those tweets was untrue.
Jaime continued with other theories, questioning whether Mike Shinoda or other band members have ‘controlled accounts.’ He asked, “Considering that Mike doesn’t post through the official LP accounts it’s worth wondering… 1) Does Mike run his own social media? Or do all band members have ‘controlled accounts.’ 2) If ‘they’ had access to Chester’s cell phone and social media did ‘they’ ever post as Chester? If so, how much of Chester’s truth has been compromised, for how long has this truth been compromised, and in what way has this truth been compromised?”
Jaime also shared his doubt about his father’s cause of death, suggesting that ‘they’ wanted people to see Chester as someone ‘with a history of substance abuse and suicidal ideation.’ He mentioned a 2014 meeting between Linkin Park and former President Bill Clinton, noting that Chester joined a human trafficking task force soon after.
In addition, Jaime made claims about the band’s direction since the addition of Emily Armstrong, alleging that Mike Shinoda has secretly ran the band for years.
