Alex Van Halen Debuts Signature Cowbell and New Memoir Brothers

With news of the release of Brothers, the new book from Alex Van Halen, the drummer has also announced the Alex Van Halen Signature 8″ Cowbell. Known for his unique playing style and exceptional timing, Alex worked with Latin Percussion on this 8″ beauty, based on the LP Bongo Cowbell.

“I have loved every minute of working with LP to create my signature cowbell,” Alex told us. “It’s incredibly versatile, and its distinctive ‘tonk’ will add to the sonic landscape of almost any genre of music.”

Fans of cowbell will note that in Van Halen’s Dance The Night Away, Alex uses a cowbell to set the tone of the whole song.

The chrome-plated, mountable Alex Van Halen Signature 8″ Cowbell is embossed with Alex’s signature and the iconic Van Halen logo. It is fitted with the patented Jenigor Ridge Rider Bar for dampening and durability and the patented, self-aligning eye bolt that mounts to any 3/8″ to ½” diameter rod. It pumps out high-pitched sound with dry overtones, making it great for punching accents into any big groove.

Alex Van Halen – Brothers

Brothers is a unique, intimate, and open rock ‘n’ roll memoir. Alex shares his story of family, camaraderie, immigration, music, and loss and offers a remarkable tribute to his late little brother and bandmate, Edward, a once-in-a-generation talent who transformed our understanding of what it is possible to do with a guitar.

Despite Van Halen being one of the best-selling bands of all time, there has never been an accurate account of the brothers, and Alex wants to set the record straight on Edward’s life and death.

He recounts his journey with Edward from day one, from sharing a record player, an 800 square foot house, a mum and dad, and a work ethic, to later sharing the back of a tour bus, alcoholism, the experience of becoming famous, of becoming fathers and uncles, and of spending more hours in the studio making musical history than doing anything else in this lifetime.

MetalTalk will have more news about Brothers very soon.

Brothers is published by Harper Collins and is available in Hardback from all good bookshops. More details of the Alex Van Halen Signature 8″ Cowbell can be found at lpmusic.com.
