During Slipknot’s Knotfest performance in Brazil, Corey Taylor changed the lyrics of the song ‘Vermilion’ from ‘She isn’t real, I can’t make her real’ to ‘She’s finally real, I just made her real.’ The change sparked fan excitement, with many attributing the new line to Taylor’s wife, Alicia Dove, whom he has previously credited as a key figure in his mental health journey.
A video of the moment went viral, with fans sharing their support online. One user on X wrote, “I’m just so happy to see him happy, he deserves it so much. Thank u, Alicia,” to which Alicia replied, “I swear to protect him always.”
Fans on Instagram also celebrated Taylor’s healing, with one commenting, “Corey finally healed from his wounds! Proud of this dude,” and another adding, “Took him 20 years to make her real.”
Taylor, who married Alicia in 2019, has been open about his previous marriages, including what he described as a ‘toxic relationship‘ with ex-wife Stephanie Luby. He shared about his partner of eight years, “I won’t go into specifics, but it wasn’t a good time.”
In contrast, the frontman repeatedly highlighted Alicia’s positive impact on his mental health. After recently canceling his North American tour due to mental and physical health issues, he shared gratitue for her by posting a photo on Instagram with the caption, “My Strength. My Life.”
Following his recovery, Taylor resumed performing in Southeast Asia and is now back on a world tour with Slipknot, with their next show planned for Knotfest Argentina on October 26.
