After receiving backlash for his performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jelly Roll addressed the situation on social media.
“This is for sure the most toxic negative app to exist ever — PERIOD. lol,” the rapper wrote in response to the negative comments. “This place is different man, I always heard it was the Wild West on here but man it’s insane. It’s a safe place for everyone to say mean sh*t to each other with no consequences. I’m out lol.”
Jelly Roll had faced criticism after his performance of Ozzy Osbourne’s song ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ at the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. The Rock Hall shared a video of the performance on Instagram, but fans of Ozzy were not impressed.
One user wrote in the comments, “That was absolutely hideous. I’ll never understand the appeal of Jelly Roll.” Another added, “Should have had James Hetfield or Corey Taylor, you know, people who were both influenced by Ozzy but also are close to him.” Another commenter agreed: “Oh Jesus that was bad. Stop getting current trendy people to sings these legends songs and get the best suited voice possible. F*cking Ozzy deserves better.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony included tributes to artists like Cher, Mary J. Blige, and Foreigner. The main highlight of the night was Ozzy Osbourne’s appearance. He was already in the Hall of Fame for his work with Black Sabbath and was being inducted again for his solo career.
Jelly Roll performed the song alongside stars like Billy Idol and Chad Smith while Ozzy watched from the side.
