In a recent interview with BadBrad, Quiet Riot bassist Rudy Sarzo shared his thoughts on Ozzy Osbourne’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and his connection to the band.
Addressing his own role, Sarzo stated, “Let me address what you mentioned about me and due to Ozzy being inducted into the Hall of Fame. No, I have no interest in that. If anybody, Randy [Rhoads]’s already inducted. From my experience, I was not there during the making of the record ‘Diary Of A Madman’ and ‘Blizzard Of Ozz,’ so I have no experience of what went on with the band at that time. I can only speak from my own experience.”
Sarzo also credited Sharon Osbourne for Ozzy’s success: “Somehow some way that induction from my experience should be shared with Sharon because if it wasn’t for Sharon, just keeping Ozzy alive even, forget about his career. Keeping him at the top. Since the point that I joined the band to the rest of his trajectory without Sharon it would not happen Ozzy wouldn’t even be here to get that award.”
After Ozzy’s Hall of Fame speech, Sarzo responded to a fan on X who felt Ozzy should have thanked Bob Daisley, Jake E. Lee, and others. Sarzo acknowledged that Ozzy did thank Randy Rhoads.
“F*cking love you guys. Well, here we are. You know what? I can’t believe I’m here myself. Let me get the thank yous out of the way, because I’m not going to bore you with a long, drawn-out f*cking monologue,” Ozzy said in his thank-you speech. “I’d like to thank whoever voted me into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for my solo work. A great thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
Responding to the fan on social media saying that Ozzy didn’t thank many important names, the rocker wrote, “He did thank Randy Rhoads.”
Some fans on Reddit debated that the Rock Hall ceremony focused too much on Randy Rhoads, while others thought Ozzy missed opportunities to thank key figures like Dana Strum and Bob Daisley. Jack Black hosted the event, but Jake E. Lee’s era was not mentioned, and Wolfgang Van Halen performed ‘Crazy Train.’
