Emily Armstrong was emotional during a recent Linkin Park performance, prompting fans of Chester Bennington to share their thoughts.

A fan shared the moment on Instagram, captioning it, “I love this song so much! Haters, go away! I don’t want to see or read how unhappy you are! Anyone who truly loves Linkin Park and their music understands that Emily is the best thing that has been done since Chester’s death.”

Another fan commented, “How can anyone not look at Emily and see that she’s just as big a fan as we are and that she would rather die than tarnish the legacy of Chester. Give her a chance.” One more user stated, “Emily was destined to resurrect Linkin Park. Chester would be so proud of her.” Another added, “You have to be inhuman not to feel her pain. On September 5, Linkin Park announced their return during a livestreamed event, introducing Armstrong as their new lead singer. However, her addition faced some backlash due to her connections to the Church of Scientology and her support for convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

In response, Emily explained, “Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him.” She continued, “I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty. To say it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes.”

Armstrong also faced criticism recently for potentially using backing tracks during live performances. During one song, she held the microphone out to the crowd, but her recorded vocals continued to play. This drew mixed reactions from fans; some supported her, arguing that it’s common for artists to use backing tracks, while others found it disappointing.
