Ted Nugent recently talked about the LGBTQ+ community in a new YouTube video while talking about his interview with Pierce Morgan.
“Figuratively speaking there’s still some skull tissue from Pierce Morgan who thought he was going to get the guitar player that CNN said, ‘Well let’s get Nugent, we’ll get Pierce Morgan. He’s really street savvy, he’ll get Nugent.’ No, he didn’t. I got him,” Nugent said. “Pierce admitted. You mess with Uncle Ted you lose. Michael Moore tried it. I mean the guy’s a fat slob.”
Regarding Pete Buttigieg, Nugent said, “Pete Buttigieg, you know what? I love gay guys, I write songs with gay guys, I love gay guys that are honest have integrity, and bust their ass to be in the asset column, gay guys that show up on time and actually put their heart and soul into being in the best that they can be. Nobody cares if you’re gay, nobody gives a rat’s ass.”
Nugent has previously faced backlash for his comments about the community. He mentioned having ‘black gay friends’ and specifically referenced Doug Pinnick, saying, “By the way, Doug Pinnick is a black gay guy and I love him. ‘Well, Nugent is like a racist homophobe,’ except for all the black gay guys I hang out with. It’s hysteric. Doug Pinnick, what a fire-breathing talent, what a soulful guy.”
Nugent also criticized brands that support the LGBTQ+ community, including Bud Light for collaborating with a trans person. He questioned how they could decide to ‘piss in the face of the people who pay their salaries,’ calling it a sign of cultural deprivation.
While Nugent claims to love gay people, his comments in interviews and on YouTube seem contradictory.
