Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 recently shared a video on Instagram, playing the guitar part of the band’s new song, ‘Canceled.’
He received comments suggesting he is too good for Mötley Crüe and that the other members aren’t as talented. When a user commented, “Please no more new Mötley…” John 5 replied, “We are just getting started.” Another user added, “John, you are the only one actually performing.”
Mötley Crüe members have faced accusations of using backing tracks throughout their careers. Recent comments followed accusations against John 5 regarding the use of backing tracks during performances.
In response, he posted two separate videos showing he wasn’t using any backing tracks and was genuinely playing. In the videos, he played the ‘Wild Side’ riff and Mick Mars’ solo. John 5 later explained that they performed in a smaller venue not just to prove they were playing live but noted, “When you see it in a club there’s no hiding, you’re feeling that air from those amps. It is a rock and roll band. I watch it online and stuff and it sounds killer. I’m very proud, I think it sounds incredible. I love playing those club shows.”
The band released the track on October 4 and recorded a cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘Fight for Your Right’ along with two new singles for the EP. Although fans expected these tracks to be part of a full album, the band confirmed earlier this year that this would not happen.
