Following the tumble taken by Five Finger Death Punch vocalist Ivan Moody on Thursday at the band’s performance at Louder Than Life, Five Finger Death Punch were forced to drop off a day of supporting Metallica in Mexico City. Mexican prog metal band Agora have been announced as their replacement.
Metallica made the announcement on an Instagram post. “Tomorrow we wrap up this incredible second year on the M72 Tour with the final show in Mexico City,” wrote Metallica on Instagram. “Unfortunately, [Five Finger Death Punch], our tour mates for the last two years, will not be there due to injury. We’re so sorry to hear about Ivan’s mishap and we’re sending him much love and good vibes for a speedy recovery.
“Joining us instead will be [Agora], who are no strangers to the local and international festival circuit as they’ve played with Guns N’ Roses, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Kiss, just to name a few. With over twenty years of recording and touring under their belt, we’re excited to see them hit the circular stage first tomorrow at 6:30 PM. Our friends Ice Nine Kills will follow, just before our set.”
Ivan Moody posted on Instagram following the injury saying that he had a bruise from his arm pit down to his knee, which turned out to be a fractured rib. He also showed that his hand was damaged, but didn’t give an exact diagnosis of his injury to his hand. As disappointing as it must be to miss an opportunity to open for Metallica on such a massive stage, it’s good that missing the show is the worst that happened to Moody.
