Lzzy Hale and Maynard James Keenan are competing for the title of best frontperson.
The Halestorm singer posted on Instagram about Loudwire’s voting, saying, “Ya’ll can fight over us if ya want! It’s On Keenan! Glad to be on such a short list! Thank you, Loudwire. You can vote via loudwire.com or the link in my STORY. The crazy thing is that Tool was the first concert I bought tickets to when I was 17. I’m honored to now call him a peer.”
According to Loudwire, Hale was named the best frontwoman after defeating Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless. In addition to Halestorm’s five albums, Hale has collaborated with artists like Stone Sour, I Prevail, and Evanescence.
Keenan made it to this stage after beating Corey Taylor in the best 21st Century Frontman vote two weeks ago. Over the past 23 years, he has worked with Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer.
Chuck Armstrong will start the battle at 8 PM on Monday during Loudwire Nights. He will also talk about Hale and Keenan on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fans can rank their work in the 21st century using a form on Loudwire all week. The person with the most votes will earn a special spot on Friday’s show at 8 PM.
In 2011, Rolling Stone asked readers to vote for the best lead singer of all time. Robert Plant took first place, while Freddie Mercury came in second. Other notable names included Bono, Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, Roger Daltrey, Eddie Vedder, John Lennon, Chris Cornell, and Kurt Cobain.
