Linkin Park are back with an updated lineup, a new single, The Emptiness Machine, a global livestream performance, and six upcoming arena shows in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota for fans to look forward to.

These six arena shows are part of a larger From Zero World Tour.  The Emptiness Machine, the band’s first new music in seven years, is taken from their upcoming album From Zero, which is due for release on 15 November 2024.

The new single welcomes Emily Armstrong, from critically acclaimed band Dead Sara, as co-vocalist and drummer Colin Brittain, songwriter/producer for G Flip, Illenium, and One OK Rock, to the Linkin Park family.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero,” Mike Shinoda told us. “This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future—embracing our signature sound but new and full of life.

“It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited about the journey ahead.”

This afternoon, Linkin Park will join Apple Music host Zane Lowe to discuss the band’s journey and the path to being back with new music. This will tell how Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave Phoenix Farrell and Joe Hahn began meeting up in recent years. This was not with the intention of “trying to restart the band” but was with the instinct of simply spending more time together and reconnecting with the creativity and camaraderie that has been at the core of their friendship since college.

During this time, they invited various friends and cohorts to join them in the studio and among the guests, they found a special kinship with Armstong and Brittain.

The band have talked of how natural chemistry drew these musicians back into its gravitational pull as they logged more and more hours in the studio. It was the sound of lifelong musicians rediscovering the uncontainable energy of a new beginning once again. Over this season, From Zero was born.

“The more we worked with Emily and Colin,” Shinoda told us, “the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created. We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we have made together.”

The resulting new song, The Emptiness Machine, perfectly channels the DNA of Linkin Park and Shinoda’s hypnotic melodies hand off to Armstrong’s blistering chorus over distorted riffs and head-nodding drums.

“We are weaving together the sonic touchpoints we have been known for and still exploring new ones,” Shinoda said.

A new era has truly begun.
