Ronnie Radke gets a lot of criticism for a few reasons. Some people don’t like his singing style or the music his band makes. But it’s not just about the music—he’s had legal problems and there have been claims about him being involved in domestic abuse.
His behavior on stage, like kicking fans out for wearing shirts from his old band or throwing things into the crowd, has also upset people. Some think he acts too full of himself and doesn’t treat others well, which has made a lot of people dislike him.
One of the reasons people hate him is the rape allegations against him. Radke was accused of hitting his then-girlfriend, Sally Watts. He was arrested in Glendale, California, on August 6, 2012, after missing several court dates. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department charged him with a misdemeanor for corporal injury and false imprisonment. He was released on $30,000 bail.
On May 6, 2006, Radke met Marcel Colquitt near Shadow Ridge High School, at the north end of Decatur Boulevard. Both men brought friends to back them up. During the fight, Radke’s friend Chase Rader shot an 18-year-old kid, killing him and injuring Colquitt’s brother. Rader was arrested and charged with murder, but the district attorney decided not to prosecute him because it was determined he acted in self-defense.
The ‘Mic Stand’ incident is another thing. During one of the band’s shows, Radke decides to throw a mic stand to the crowd just for the fun of it. Radke hit a girl with the mic stand. He was charged with simple assault and aggravated assault and was released on $25,000 bail. However, the controversial part of all this is his response to the incident. “I’ve actually never apologized for the micstand event. ‘Cause girl got almost a million dollars for a tiny ass cut and it helped my persona so no apologies,” Radke wrote 8 years after the incident.
Except for all the legal issues, Radke is also known to get in feuds and arguments online with different people — whether it’s a hater or another rocker. He got into feuds with the Sanguisugabogg frontman Devin Swank and Stabbed guitarist Mark Valentino. Swank took jabs at Radke about his past and mocked him about the allegations. Radke then shared tweets saying Swank was lying and that he would make Swank apologize publicly.
Mark Valentino responded to Radke when he said he was supportive of Machine Gun Kelly’s signature razor-shaped guitar. Valentino commented he would beat anyone with that guitar, and Radke responded by saying Valentino was ‘soft as sh*t’ and he would ‘f*ck his b*tch ass up.’
On the musical side of all this, some say Radke’s lyrics are ‘corny’ or ‘cringe.’ While the rocker refers to his past and the actions he did in the past, people think it’s funny he mentions them in his lyrics. The line, ‘Nowadays, everybody’s so sensitive,’ has also recently received backlash as Radke is known for constantly addressing negative comments he gets on social media.
So, even though Radke has had some controversial actions over the years, he says the cancel culture is not out there to get him.
