Joe Elliott appeared in the new episode of Fly On The Wall podcast and chatted about the recent Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain feud.
When Elliott was asked about Steve Perry and if he would ever sing again with the band, the rocker forwarded the question to Schon and explained what he saw during their tour together:
“That is actually a question for Neil Schon. In my world, I wouldn’t know any of their internal politics except for all the infighting that was going off between him and Jonathan Cain before the tour started which I don’t know. On the surface [it] appears to be sorted. So they’re going on stage and doing it. I certainly wouldn’t be able to go on stage with people I didn’t like. But their dynamics are maybe different to ours.”
The Recent Drama
Cain has filed a new lawsuit accusing Schon of spending too much of the band’s money.
The lawsuit was filed on July 30th and claims Schon maxed out an American Express card with a $1 million limit, overspent on a $1,500-per-night hotel, rented private jets, and even hired someone as a security guard. Cain also says Schon has stopped the band from paying its debts.
Cain’s lawyers at Fox Rothschild LLP say these unexpected money problems are putting the band and its history at risk. They point out that the band is dealing with split loyalties, crew members leaving, and a lot of tension.
Schon hasn’t responded to the claims yet, but he took to Facebook to share some photos from a recent gig and shared it with a message:
“Rain or Shine I’m in it 100% Journey has been my life since 73! Never missed a gig. I’m on every album from the beginning! Much love and respect friends. See you soon.”
