Is there anything Lzzy Hale and Halestorm cannot do? The true frontwoman of rock is delivering on outstanding levels again. This time, the Grammy Award-winning band have joined forces with the mighty Metalcore band I Prevail to celebrate their humongous upcoming US co-headline tour with the release of the new summer anthem Can U See Me In The Dark?
Lzzy is more ferocious than ever, with harder and heavier vocals that blend to perfection with the powerful sound of I Prevail. The vocal pairing with Eric Vanlerberghe is pure chemistry, neither compromising on their identities.
The crossover is going to easily win both bands new fans. Anyone who manages to snag tickets to a show will no doubt be treated to the song live, and it will quickly become a favourite.
I Prevail fans fear not. They still bring the regular huge riffs, catchy melodies, mixed screams and emotional vocals, with a blistering breakdown that is so foot-tappingly good.
“Can U See Me In The Dark? is written for our collective fan bases,” Lzzy said, “our community, our family. We want you to know that you are seen, and you are not alone, shining through life’s myriad of joy and pain. We can’t wait to feast our eyes on you this summer.”
Eric Vanlerberghe says he is excited about the new song. “It was a fun challenge to blend the Halestorm and I Prevail sounds together,” He said. “We really focused on creating a music bed that felt very much I Prevail and letting Lzzy just shine and do what she does best. I feel we found a very sick way to blend the two identities of our bands into one massive song. I’m really looking forward to this tour and possibly playing this song live together for everyone.”
Lzzy has previously partnered with Sound Mind Live and has been open about her mental health and struggles with depression, panic and imposter syndrome. They will engage fans to pledge support that will provide free-to-the-community mental health programming across the country for fans and the broader community.
This song certainly feels like a further acknowledgement of mental health, with lyrics like, “We’re beaten and weathered and broken, scarred” and “The face I wear is not my own.”
Halestorm and I Prevail pose the question, “Can u see me in the dark?” which will resonate with many, and they answer it with an empathic yes! Their fans, their community, are seen, they are not alone.
This celebration of Heavy Metal is comforting, makes you feel connected, and lets you know you’re not alone.
This will also be felt on a tour, where two worlds will collide, bringing an army of freaks together.
