God Forbid played a handful of reunion shows between 2022 and 2023, and it seems that there are more coming soon!

According to God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle in an interview with Nickelsack Jack, the band has a few shows booked for later this year, possibly even celebrating 20 years of their album Gone Forever. Coyle also mentions he plans on sitting down and writing the first new God Forbid material since Equilibrium in 2012, though there's no real timeline for if and when that might be completed.

"We just booked a couple shows but it's not public information, a couple festivals we're doing in the fall. So some really great opportunities, and you know, we've discussed maybe working on some music," said Coyle as transcribed by Metal Injection.

"But it's just been hard for me personally to find the time to really sit down and work on that stuff because I've been so busy with Bad Wolves. As things kind of develop into the year, I want to really create some time to write some stuff for God Forbid. We'll see where it goes, but you know, stuff like that."

"It's the 20th anniversary of our Gone Forever album so we'd like to do some performances this year centered around that. I mentioned the Midwest – maybe doing Chicago or something. That would actually be really wonderful if we could come there because we always had a lot of great support in that area."

In a Q&A session on his The Ex-Man With Doc Coyle podcast earlier this year, Coyle said he and current God Forbid live guitarist Nick Hipa (Mire, ex-As I Lay Dying) spent most of their time throughout 2023 relearning songs for the shows. Though he notes he's got a "couple ideas floating around" that could be new God Forbid.

"With Nick, we've really just been playing these older God Forbid songs," said Coyle. "So it's just been about jamming and getting in the flow of it, and even though I'm teaching it to him, some of the songs I'm kind of relearning and getting in the habit of.

"So it's just about locking together and developing chemistry, which we have pretty good chemistry already which is amazing. As far as new ideas, I mean, new ideas really haven't been approached. I have a couple ideas floating around that could be used for some God Forbid stuff but [it's to be determined]."

Coyle later added "I'm open to [new material], but one step at a time. I don't want to over-promise anything before it materializes … It would be fun. It would be nice, but we'll see."
