Taylor McCall, who will join Robert Plant Presents Saving Grace on stage in March, has released the atmospheric, moody new single Tide Of Love. This track is the third shining example of his unique mix of blues-fuelled Americana released from his new album Mellow War.
Mellow War is Taylor McCall’s second album, following his debut, Black Powder Soul, in 2021. The title track was released late last year, which sets the theme for the whole album.
“Mellow War pays homage to my late grandpa,” McCall told us. “My grandpa went to Vietnam. The album cover is him in Vietnam. The video for this song is from the War in Vietnam.”
It was the inspiration of McCall’s grandpa that set the tone for the song Mellow War and then the album. “These are songs that are sort of letters to home that I imagined he might have sent,” Taylor says. “My grandpa was a life inspiration for me. It was bigger than just music.
“The songs are a tribute to everything he stood for and everything he taught me. It’s a way for me to share with him even when he’s in another dimension. This isn’t just about me or myself.”
Taylor made his UK debut supporting Robert Plant Presents Saving Grace in November. McCall has again been confirmed as a special guest on the forthcoming run of dates in March, which will see McCall play at The London Palladium on 17 March.
Tickets are on sale from here starting Friday, 19 January 2024 at 10 am.
Mellow War has been produced by McCall and Sean McConnell (Michael Franti and Wade Bowen). It will also be released as a deluxe CD plus extra early material, CD and on vinyl here. Other merch will be available from here. Mellow War is set for release on 2 February 2024 via Black Powder Soul Records/Thirty Tigers.
